Janesa's
Story
Janesa and her three children were living in a storage facility when she came to The Women's Center for help. She had moved to Fort Worth from Louisiana fleeing a violent and potentially deadly relationship. But when she got here, Janesa could not keep a job. Her eight-year-old son was having violent episodes at school which required her to miss work. Soon she was evicted and living in the Salvation Army. When her time ran out there, she had no place to go except the street. Janesa was desperate. She wanted to kill herself. But her children and the desire to make a better life for them kept her going. With the help of The Women's Center Janesa and her children found an apartment. Her son was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and is receiving treatment at a residential mental health facility. He will come home soon. And Janesa now has a "career job" and is training to become a pharmacist tech. She is no longer a victim of her circumstances. She has learned to advocate for herself and her children. She is on her way to that better life. "I am not a lost cause. We are going to make it. I can choose my destiny."
